由连词 als ob (wenn) 带起的非现实比较从句说明其内容并非真实，仅被认为是那样，所以这种从句的谓语动词须用虚拟式，以第二虚拟式为多。翻译为“似乎，好象，仿佛”等意思：
句型：
Sie schaut mich an, als ob sie mich nicht verstaende.

由连词 als ob (wenn) 带起的非现实比较句前面的主句须用直陈式，而从句永远后置。
例子：
Sie schaut mich an, als ob sie mich nicht verstaende.
她看着我，好象没听懂我说的话似的。(实际上听懂了)
Es sieht so aus, als ob die Medizin keine fortschritte gemacht haette.
看上去医学没什么发展。(实际医学发展很大)

已过时：在从句动作早于主句动作时要用已过时，可采用第二或第一虚拟式。

ob (wenn) 可省略，此时，从句用反语序。
如：
Herr Mueller ist doch nicht der Chef.
Aber er tut immer so, als ob er der Chef waere.
= Aber er tut immer so, als waere er der Chef.
