我是英语专业的，我知道
之所以要求看英文的解释，是因为有挺多英语单词的中文意思本身就是翻译过来的，汉语和英语本身存在着一定的差异，起中文意思并不能完全表达它的意思。例如：
study和learn的动词都有“学习”的意思，从词典里的中文解释并不能说明他们的区别，但
study: spend time learning about a subject by reading, going to college,ect
从英文解释我们可以知道这里的“学习”是指通过阅读或者去大学里学习一门课程，与college（大学）有关，比较偏学术
learn: to gain knowledge or skill by studying, from experience, from being taught,ect
这里的“学习”是只从经验以及别人那里学习技术或者知识，比较偏经验
所以查单词还是要看英文解释的
meet是什么意思
meet 的意思有：动词意思是相遇、开会、满足、经历（常指不愉快的事）；名词意思是运动会；形容词意思是适当的。具体释义为：
1、meet 作动词时，意为相遇、相识、开会、接触（某物）、满足、支付、迎接。
(1)相遇的英英释义：If you meet someone, you happen to be in the same place as them and start talking to them.（如果你遇到某人，你碰巧和他们在同一个地方，开始和他们交谈。）
(2)满足的英英释义是：If something meets a need, requirement, or condition, it is good enough to do what is required.（某样东西满足需要或条件，那么它就足以完成所需的工作了。）
(3)开会的英英释义：When a group of people such as a committee meet, they gather together for a particular purpose.（当一群人为一个特定目的而聚集在一起。）
2、meet 作名词时，意思是运动会、体育比赛、集会。运动会英英释义为：A meet is an event in which athletes come to a particular place in order to take part in a race or races.（运动会是运动员为了参加比赛而到某一特定地方参加的活动。）
3、meet 作形容词时，意思是适当的、合适的、恰当的。适当的英英释义：being precisely fitting and right.（恰到好处）

1、表示约见某人、迎接某人、认识某人等，通常要用 meet。
2、表示偶然遇到某人，可用 meet 或 meet with；表示偶然遇到某物，通常用 meet with。
3、 对于困难、不幸、失败、拒绝、反对、暴力等不利的东西，若是指主观上的应付通常用 meet，若是指客观上的遭遇则通常用 meet with，有时也用 meet。
4、 表示满足需要、符合要求、达到希望等，通常用 meet； 表示受到欢迎、得到支持、获得批准等，通常用 meet with。
