（4） 不宜用作重大货物的装卸作业。4. 流动起重机 轮胎式起重机是港口常用于装卸驳船的流动式起重机。轮胎式起重机具有机动性好、适用性强的特点，使用时不受轨道的限制，灵活机动，服务区域相对较大，既可用于码头前沿，又可作堆场机械使用，一机多用，机械利用率得到充分发挥。
5. 装卸船舶机械选用情况 对装卸船舶机械的选用是由码头泊位条件、港口自然条件、装卸作业具体情况及使用习惯等因素决定的。在件杂货货种结构多变的情况下，为了使码头对货种的适应性更好，近些年来新建的件杂货码头采用多用途码头形式，并配有大型的通用性强的机械，以便在货种变化时码头可作应变的处理。
二、水平运输机械 件杂货码头水平运输机械的选型，应根据货物港内的运距、组合形式、货件的重量等因素确定。

流动机械的库场作业的特点是堆货高度高，使库场单位堆存面积的利用率高；进行库场装卸车作业时，可将货直接装上（卸下）车，装卸效率较其他库场内机械高；流动机械进行库场作业时，需要和其他水平运枪机械配合使用，所以在短距离运输和库内作业时，采用叉车较合适；卡车则常用于配合堆场作业。电吊结构简单，制造方便，造价低又能适合库场使用，所以在不要求高效作业的情况下，选用电吊也是一种合适的选择。
