I have been in University for about one year. During my stay here, I came to realize that university life is like drinking coke. We experience all tastes of life here, sour, sweet, bitter and hot. I am from Province, which is far away from here. I often miss my Mum, friends, and relatives in my hometown. However, I can't see them very often. So loneliness always keeps me company. I am sad that I can't be there with them. Lucky for me, life in university is rich and colorful. With more free time,we can do many more things besides study, such as joining societies clubs, and taking part-time jobs. Such activities not only make our life more colorful, but also help us improve all kinds of skills. The university is a society miniature, what we learn here will benefit our future life. Our path in life will not always be smooth. Setbacks can't be avoided. Failing an important exam, break up with boy or girl friend, or refused by a promising company, such setbacks are likely to get us down. Sometimes we fell so frustrated that we even burst into tears. Drinkin coke is wonderful, despite the undesirble consequent hiccups. It's bitter, sour and peppery, but also sweet. And you'll even feel excited after gulping down a glass. A college experience is part of growing up. We cry, smile, fall in love, get hurt, leave, learn and then we become a better person. University life is like drinking coke. I'm experiencing it. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. It's my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech--Changes in Our Life. Over the past thirty years or so, great changes have taken place in our life. Take my family for example. My parents contacted others mainly by sending them letters in the past. But now we Call long distance at home. And once my parents listened to the radio for news and other information. But now we get the news by watching TV. Another big change is in my living conditions. When they got married about twenty years ago, my parents lived in a small room crowded with fiirniture. But now we have moved into a big new three-room apartment. In short, our life has become comfortable and convenient. Now,I'll talk about“youth”.Youth Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life . Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust . Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being 's heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there's a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young . When the aerials are down,you must to think what we have in this mordern.What I do for it? Look,not only the community has been change,but also our thinking has been change into well. Ladies and Gentlemen , Good afternoon! I'm very glad to stand here and give you a short speech.
When I was little, I once asked: “when will my future come, mum?” My mother smiled and said: “The future is now. Every one of us is walking on a huge and invisible cloth, if we seize everyday to learn, to work and to think, our footsteps will paint a picture on the cloth, just like paintbrushes.”
Mother's words used to be puzzling. Fortunately, with time going by, I understand it at last. In my opinion, our future is not far away at all, it is right beside everyone; it is not unpredictable, and it is simply the result of choices we have made. What our future will be like depends on what we do today; whether we can win a bright future depends on whether we have a correct and proper goal in life now. Most important, our future is determined by how hard we study day after day and how we spend every hour, every minute and even every second. Only by making the most of every day to learn, to work and to think, can we make it. Future is a process, not a result. Prepare the best, enjoy the most. Just as the old saying goes: If the adult always young, he or she will suffer old.
The future is now, which is my firm belief as well as my own philosophy. If we really want to make great contributions to the society, we have to take advantage of every thing we possess now; if we do hope to become somebody, we have no choice but to do well what we can now. Just remember: The future is now, many many nows make up the future!
Having said so much, I'd like to finish my speech with a short poem, which can express what I want to tell all of you:
Yesterday is history,
Tomorrow is mystery,
Today is a gift,
So,we call it “present”!
