吃饭喝汤，这是我们每天都要做的事，人是铁饭是钢嘛！这一次我们就来看看这些“吃吃喝喝”在英文里都怎么表示。
1. What do you want he for lunch?
你午饭想吃什么？
说到“吃”，大家首先想到的是eat这个词。Eat强调的是“吃”的动作，比如“我刚吃了一个苹果”就可以说I just ate an apple. Eat通常和表示食物的词一起用，比如eat bread, eat chicken等等。Eat 还可以和dinner一起用：eat (one's) dinner。
表示“吃”的还有take 和he两个词。Take主要是用来表示“吃药”的，take medicine；但是在英格兰，人们也说take dinner。He 则是个中性词，可以与各种食物搭配，什么东西都可以用he，比如he an apple吃苹果，he dinner吃正餐，he medicine吃药，he soup喝汤，he tea喝茶，he a drink喝酒、喝水，he breakfast吃早饭，he a meal吃饭，he a candy吃糖等等。

一般餐厅的习惯（除了外卖快餐的），吃饭时都会点一些饮料（在中国就是茶水盛行）。侍者一般都会问 What do you like to drink. 或者 Can I get you something to drink? 这个drink专指的是“喝”饮品类的东西，通常饮品里面不会有其它的固体（可乐加冰当然除外）。

您想喝什么汤？
吃饭时喝汤是不独是中国人的饮食习惯。老外也喜欢，譬如餐前“开胃汤”之类的东西。汉语中我们说“喝汤”，英语中却是说“吃汤（eat soup）”。这主要是因为西餐里的汤一般很稠，汤里有奶油、肉、蔬菜等很多种东西，这点有点像南方人喜欢喝的老火汤。这样的汤是没法像喝饮品一样喝到嘴里的，必须嚼一嚼才成。另外eat这个“吃”本身就是指食用很稠的、需要咀嚼的食品，西餐的汤就属于这一类。
同样，汉语中的“喝稀饭”也不能说成 drink porridge，而应该是 eat porridge（吃稀饭）。
最后还要提一句，婴儿“吃奶”既不能说成 eat milk 也不能说成 drink milk，而因该是 suck the breast（吸乳），因为婴儿就是在吸妈妈的乳房嘛！
