金融英语综合考试的作文主要表现在以下几个方面：
1）填写表格、单证，绘制业务流程等
这类写作系有指导的写作，实务中有很强的专业性，比如，通常填写一些表格、单据，如开户申请书（application for an account）、银行存/取款表格（form of deposit/withdmwal）、汇兑申请及兑换水单（application for exchange and exchange memo）、汇款申请书及汇款单（remittance request and remittance bill）、汇票及背书（draft and its endorsement）、支票及其划线（cheque and its crossings）、旅行支票及复签（traveller'S cheque and its countersignature）、借记报单和贷记报单（debit advice and credit advice）、对账单（statement of account）、资产负债表（balance sheet）、损益表（profit and loss statement）、信用证申请书及表格（L/C application and L/C form）、托收申请表及委托书（collection application andcollection order）、发票（invoice）、提单（bill of lading）、保险单（insurance policy）、空运单（air waybill）、船运单（shipway bill）、信用卡申请书（application for credit card）、贷款申请书（application for loan）、贷款协议（10an agreement）等。
一定要注意题目所给的指示和要求，有些表格需要计算后才能填写，填写时要注意大小写、日期、地址、签名等。
2）翻译
掌握专业术语和词汇，同时掌握一些英语常用句型结构的表达方式，对于翻译是很有必要的。目前，考试大纲上没有明确是考汉译英还是考英译汉，所以必须全面掌握。，
3）短文写作
短文写作主要有业务信函、电文（电传、SWIFT）、业务介绍、通知、备忘录、留言、电子邮件等。除了非规范格式的应用文，如留言、通知、电子邮件和备忘录外，一般文章分为三段式，即开头、正文、结束。如果要求用完整格式写信，还要按照提示编写信头、日期、称呼、标题、问候语、签名、附件等各部分。
修改信用证是常见的银行业务之一，一般通过电传或SWIFT修改。结合这个例子，撰写电传文稿时，应注意以下几点：
①电传基本格式应包括发电日期、收电人、发电人、电文正文。
②如果有加密，密押一般放在电文最前，也可单独列一项。
③信用证编号和金额可以单独列一项，用RE引出，也可编在电文中。
④电传日期可以采用信函写法，也可年、月、日均用阿拉伯数字来表示，但要符合英文写作惯例。
