I learned math for 3 years in my middle school.Actually I didn't enjoy to learn it at all. My teacher taught math in a boring way and what he taught in class was over my head. He wrote those formulas and principles on the blackboard, telling us how important they were and asking us to memorize them and practice them. He always assigned overwhelming homework to us, which couldn't be finished over night and told us he had a high expectation to us. I spent a lot of time on it but made no progress. I am not talented in math. Those formulas and principles always confused me. Though I tries so hard and practiced as much as other students did, I still failed most of my examinations. And that was disappointing. Due to the force-feeding teaching method and the deadly learning atmosphere, most of my classmates fell asleep in the class, and the teacher himself also lost the passion, so basically there was no stimulation, provoking or relevant examples in class. I work in a private enterprise associated with waste water, so I want to talk about the Water Pollution Prevention Law in China. It was first passed in the 1980's by the National People's Congress, but then it was revised many times. The latest change to this law, as far as I know, took place in 2008, which was about the punishment of illegal discharge of sewage.

Then, let me talk about the contents of this law. It is made up of eight parts, or eight chapters, including the general principles, the rules about water monitoring, the rules about pollution prevention, discharge standards, and so on.

It is an important law as water crisis is exaggerating in China, and the government is taking actions to prevent and control water pollution. But at present, there're still some companies choosing pay the penalty fees instead of treating the polluted water. I think the punishment should be more detailed and harsher.

The most important person that I would like to talk about, is a man called Confucius.

I am sure you have heard or read about him before.

He is known as the greatest philosopher and writer of all times in China.

He lived about 500 BC in the region that is known as Shan Dong province today.

The site of his tomb was later developed by his followers into the first university in China.

As to why I would like to talk about him, there are several reasons. Allow me to explain by mentioning some of them shortly.

First of all, I firmly believe that he was a very gentle and easy-going person.

In other words, he did not believe that problems and conflicts should be solved by violence.

Secondly, he obviously was a man who possessed great wisdom.

You just have to read his writings, and listen to his sayings to agree with me.

Lastly, he is my favorite famous person because of the influence that his teachings have in Asia to this day.

For instance, countries like China, Japan, and Korea, still use his teachings as the basis to arrange their societies.

So, that in brief, was my favorite famous person.
