我不太清楚怎样的短文适合高中生，就发一篇我以前读过的短文吧。 Nothing to worry about The rough road across the plain soon became so bad that we tired to get Bruce to ddrive back to the village we had come from. Even thought the road was littered with boulders and pitted with holes, Bruce ws not in the least perturbed. Glancing at his map, he informed us that the next village was a mere twenty miles away. It was not that Bruce always underestimated difficulties. He simply had no sense of danger at all. No matter the conditions were, he believed that a car should be driven as fast as it could possibly go. As we bumped over the dusty track, we swerved to avoid large boulders. The wheels scooped up stones which hammered ominously under the car. We felt sure that sooner or later a stone would rip a hole in our petrol tank or damage the engine. Because of this, we kept looking back, wondering if we were leaving a trail of oil and petrol behind us. What a relief it was when the boulders suddenly disappeared, giving way to a stretch of plain where the only obstacles were clomps of bushes. But there was worse to come. Just ahead of us there was a huge fissure. In response to renewed pleadings, Bruce stopped. Though we all got out to examine he fissure, he remained in the car. We informed him that the fissure extended for fifty yards and was two feet wide and four feet deep. Even this had no effect. Bruce went into a low gear and drove at a terrifying speed, keeping the front wheels astride the crack as he followed its zigzag course. Before we had time to worry about what might happen, we were back on the plain again. Bruce consulted the map once more and told us that the village was now only fifteen miles away. Our next obstacle was a shallow pool of water about half a mile across. Bruce charged at it, but in the middle, the car cae to a grinding halt. A yellow light on the dashboard flashed angrily and Bruce cheerfully announced that there was no oil in the engine！ 希望能帮得上忙~

顺便讲下阅读中大致的问题的类型哈
1）细节题——根据文章的内容、信息进行提问。譬如以what, which, when, where, why等开头的问题。其他常用的结构还有： according to the passage, ... the story tells us that ...
2）主旨题——询问有关文章主要内容、中心大意、作品基调、作者态度、目的等。譬如： What does the passage mainly discuss? Which of the following is the more appropriate title for the passage？等。
3）推理题——要求考生就已获得的信息进行推理，得出原文字面上未出现的答案。常见的问题有 Which of the following can be inferred from the passage about ... What does the passage imply? The main purpose of this passage is to ...等等。
4）指代题——用于测试考生对具体词义或指代关系的识别能力。其题类经常为： The work “attribute” in line 6 means ... What does the underlined phrase in line 38 refer to?
高中英语阅读
做英语阅读生词不需要全部懂。
一般一行里面有三个单词不认识完全正常。这种时候别去查字典。凭着语感去猜测它的意思。做题时必须提高整篇阅读的浏览速度。
我今年刚参加完高考。我做阅读时看的非常快。 可以这么说。 一篇高中难度的英文阅读我的浏览速度未必会比同样长度的中文阅读慢，甚至快于中文阅读。因为你知道现阶段英文阅读里的表达和寓意其实是不会难过中文的。
阅读平时不需要多做相关题目。但是你平时必须多读英文的文章，练速度和语感。这是必须的。
高中三年里掌握好书本上的词汇量就可以。 我现在正在学英语四级。百分之八十以上的单词与高中课本相同。
如果你想再有所提高，例如在做阅读时更轻松一些，可以在上搜索高中阅读常用词汇。 有很多人总结过书本上没有的又是常常出现于阅读中的词汇。
PS。 高中英语一定要做一本错题本。 摘录的题目不需很多。 几百道就够了。 要摘那些自己做错的，或者蒙对的题目。 时常翻一番对应试很有用。况且这三年有很多题目你都是重复的在做。特别到了高三以后。做错题本绝对没有坏处。
还有一点要注意就是英语作文。 你如果现在还是高一。赶紧立即马上的培养自己的写作能力。 这个至关重要。 至于怎么培养。 想要单纯应试的就去背一些经典的句型。有心的罗列各种题材所需的句子。想要真的学会怎么写好作文。你就要多看多读多背，包括单词，词组，句型。
